Minister of Transport Reveals Completion of 135 Remarkable Road Projects Across Northern Nigeria

The Nigerian Federal Government has completed 135 transformative road projects in the country’s Northern Region, according to an announcement by the Minister of Transportation, Sai’du Alkali. The Minister stated that these projects are designed to significantly improve the movement of goods and people while stimulating the regional economy. This revelation was made during a public interactive session held in Kaduna, where the government showcased its progress on electoral promises.

The Minister also outlined a wide range of other ongoing infrastructure efforts. He reported that an additional 216 road construction projects are currently in progress in the northern region, while over 300 road maintenance projects have been completed, with more underway. Furthermore, he highlighted major national initiatives, including the construction of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway, the Calabar–Abuja Superhighway, and the Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway.

In addition to road infrastructure, the government has completed various other projects, such as the rehabilitation of the old Lagos-Kano Narrow Gauge railway, which now seamlessly links Apapa Port to the Kano Inland Dry Port for freight services. All of these initiatives, along with the completion of road projects in the Federal Capital Territory and new bus terminals, are being carried out in line with the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
