After more than a decade of suppressed activity, the Abuja Centenary City Free Zone project, estimated at $18 billion, has officially resumed. Centenary City Free Zone Enterprises has engaged Julius Berger Nigeria Plc to provide the Phase 1 Primary Infrastructure under a contract valued at N750 billion. This crucial phase includes the 4.3-kilometre Plot Access Road.
Dr. Odenigwe Ike Michaels Jr., Managing Director, stated the project promises to redefine sub-Saharan Africa’s skyline. Modeled after global smart cities like Dubai and Singapore, the development aims to be Abuja’s foremost urban renewal project.
The original master plan designers, Dar Al-Handasah Consultants (DAR), have been retained for the Detailed Engineering Design. Key features of the completed city will include the Mall of Africa, Five-Star Hotels, luxury residences, and a major International Convention Center. Management acknowledged government support from the FCT and Housing Ministers for advancing the project.
