Power firm invests N500bn in transmission infrastructure in Nigeria

The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has invested over N500 billion in power transmission infrastructure throughout Nigeria. The company’s Managing Director, Jennifer Adighije, made the announcement during an inspection of the Lafia Transmission Substation in Nasarawa State, which she described as a world-class facility that has significantly improved electricity supply to the state and its surrounding areas.

The Lafia substation, commissioned in 2022, is a critical component of Nigeria’s power grid. Its key components include two 150MVA transformers, two 60MVA transformers, and a 75MVA reactor. Adighije noted that the N500 billion investment was used to fund various transmission projects, including lines, substations, and transformer installations across the country.

Despite liquidity challenges in the power sector, the agency remains committed to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by working to scale up electricity generation, transmission, and overall access. This commitment is intended to provide reliable power and ensure impactful projects across the entire power value chain.
